Eddyline ” Raven ” Kevlar Touring / Sea Kayak 16.75′
This auction is for an Eddyline “Raven” Sea / Touring Kayak (Kevlar). I am selling this for good friends who have two other kayaks, and don’t use this one anymore. They are the original owners, and purchased the kayak for $2800.00 about 15-16 years ago. It has been well taken care of.
The specs for this kayak are:
· Model Name : Raven
· Length: 16.75 feet
· Beam: 22 inches
· Cockpit: 31.5” X 17”
· Weight: 48 pounds
· Capacity: 360 pounds
· Initial Stability: Medium
· Secondary Stability: High
· Material: Kevlar
This kayak has been described as:
”A delightfully responsive boat that guides have raved about for years for its playfulness and maneuverability. Its excellent secondary stability makes it friendly for beginners and the rockered hull makes surfing a joy. The Raven has long been Eddylines top selling boat. Outside Magazine reported in 1995 & 96 "The Raven is kayakdom's equivalent to the best German sports sedan. ..it's the most responsive boat around." Sea Kayaker Magazine stated in 1993 " Raven receives high marks for maneuverability, responsiveness and play in rough water and surf."
Overall condition of the kayak is very good. It has normal wear and scuffing on the bottom. The red has oxidized from sun and age. There are some very small cracks in the clear coat behind the cockpit (see two photos). Cracks are NOT in the boat itself but in the clear coat. This typically happens because of the Kevlar and clear coat flexing as you get in and out of the boat. The boat can be readily used as it is. It does not come with a paddle or any accessories other than the cockpit cover.
It does need: New deck rigging (bungee cord rope), (1) new deck cleat, (1) new rudder rest (see photos). All of this would be simple and inexpensive to replace yourself. (The kayak can still be used without these items!)
The low starting bid is well below what it is actually worth. This is a great boat at a great starting price!
The kayak is located in southeastern Vermont.
Four hours north of New York City, and two hours west of Boston.
